WHAT IS MUSIC THERAPY?
According to the American Music Therapy Association, Music Therapy is the clinical and evidence-based use of music interventions to accomplish individualized goals within a therapeutic relationship by a credentialed professional who has completed an approved music therapy program.
My passion for music and helping people led me to become a Board-Certified Music Therapist. I completed my bachelor’s degree at University of the Pacific in Stockton, CA and was an intern at MusicWorx Inc. in San Diego.
I have worked with a number of populations including: individuals with special needs, older adults, people with Parkinson’s disease, substance abuse recovery, youth at-risk, pulmonary rehabilitation, wellness groups, and in pediatric and adult medical care. I often incorporate music and mindfulness techniques into my music therapy and music-centered wellness sessions.
Currently, I am volunteering full-time as a music teacher in India. I also provide music therapy in the community and am developing a skill-sharing training program for special education teachers.
